Model United Nations New Zealand, Wellington, July 2016

NZ Model UN is the premier Model UN event on for youth, offering four days of thrilling debate, engaging guest speakers and a whole host of other events. NZ Model UN offers students the chance to interact with 250 other like-minded individuals on an equal playing field and to experience a little bit of life as a diplomat. NZ Model UN gives everyone the chance to learn about the world around them whilst discussing relevant and serious topics in realistic and fast-paced committee sessions.
Each participant is assigned a country which they must represent at various debates. This year I represented Vanuatu and debated issues such as health care, education and environmental safety

United Nations Aotearoa Youth Declaration, Auckland, April 2016

The Aotearoa Youth Declaration is created by young New Zealanders from around the country who have come together to learn about issues our nation is faced with and what role we hold in combating them. The Declaration works to empower our youth to become conscious citizens, aware of the power their voices hold by challenging them to tackle New Zealand's biggest social, economic and cultural issues. This is achieved through a community of like-minded people with perspectives that will only benefit us all in the future. Each participant is assigned a focus area in which they tackle a broad spectrum of issues. In 2016, I was a member of the Education Focus Group that tackled a number issues ranging from school support systems, pedagogy and school assessment systems and processes.
